Warranties, guarantees and liabilities...

1.  Two-year inclusive warranty – components & labour
Our service warranty covers re-visiting the installation site to attend to any defects in components supplied and fitted by Tuck's Wood Roof Lanterns and our agents only.  It also covers easement that may have occurred on windows and roof vents.  Marginal movement due to the swelling or contracting of timber usually manifests itself in the first two or three seasons, but is to be expected and is generally not detrimental to the integrity of the structure.

If the customer asks us to attend to any easement or minor water ingress within two years of the 'active date', then we will return to the site as soon as possible, within our existing installation commitments.  In the unlikely event that a serious problem or leak occurs, then we will endeavour to return to site as a matter of urgency.

2.  Glazing units warranty
As installers of sealed double- and triple-glazing units we pass-on the manufacturers' materials-only warranties – which typically are for five years.  In the unlikely event that a glazing unit fails within the manufacturer's warranty period, the replacement unit will be supplied free of charge.  Labour for fitting the replacement unit will be charged after the first two years, in accordance with section 1 above.  Toughened safety glazing carries a British Standard kitemark or furniture stamp.

In the event of accidental damage, cracking of laminated panes or shattering of toughened panes – often caused by striking with sharp or heavy objects such as stones thrown up by lawn mowers – a quotation will be provided prior to carrying out the work.  This cost can often be recovered through the customer's own insurance.  We do not extend the warranty on replaced glass beyond the original guarantee period.

3.  Ten-year warranty – components only
The components used in the manufacture and installation of our roofs and frames are covered by a ten-year warranty (apart from items covered in section 2 above).  Items supplied as complete products by other manufacturers – such as electric vent openers, temperature controllers, rain sensors, etc. – carry the suppliers' (not Tuck's Wood's) guarantees.  Whether we charge for labour for replacing these items is detailed elsewhere in this document.
